The Skeleton in my closet

Ok, he's not IN my closet - he's beside it - and I've been trying to paint him all month. With varying degrees of success. The first attempt was in charcoal, which caused some rather sever smearing problems:

Then, set up number 2, which wansn't bad technically - but I was hoping for the effect of Mardi Gras, and got something resembling a protest poster instead:

So I changed the set up all together - I like the look, now I just need to find some time to paint it. That shouldn't be a problem in about... oh... 4 days.

Coming up - An extra special treat for all my loyal readers! (Because I know how much you love surprises).

    Hello Susan,

I love your work, especially this one of the skeleton. I'm quite into art myself but have no experience, what advice would you give a student artist?

    Ohhh - another Adsett!

A lot of my advice would depend on what you were interested in (realism? pop art? abstract art?) and what you wanted to do (gallery shows? illustration? graphic novels? animation?)
