To rescue you from the deadly depths...

bright yellow and blue! Yes, yes, I know you've seen this before - but I PAINTED this one. Which explains the glare at the bottom. I need a better camera. Or at least better lighting.

Kinda sketchy, kinda painty - I like it. Now I need a name for these kinds of paintings - I've been calling them "object portraits" but that doesn't seem quite right.

Go on. Think of something.

There is this French term used in English: "objet d'art". How about calling them "art d'objet", or roughly "art object". I don't know French but it makes stuff sound more legit.

    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_of_art

    Enjoying your drawings.

I got that wrong. "Objet d'art" (a real term in English) translates roughly to "art object" and is used to mean "a work of art of some artistic value" e.g. "this store sells only objets d'art"

    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=objet%20d'art

So you could use the made up term
"Art d'object", which would (maybe) translate to "object art", similar to your calling them "object portraits".

    Anyway, just thinking aloud.... :-)

Thanks Jared - that might work! I've started a new website - www.susanadsett.com - I'm hoping to have more of them up there (once I've pinned down the name...)
